About Us

Trailhead Strategic Solutions

Original.png

. . . brings together the work we're doing in a number of areas - all focused on helping physicians, physician leaders, and healthcare teams to thrive.

Every challenge is a journey.  Success requires you to lean on past experiences, find clarity in the chaos, and deploy practical solutions.

Strategy and operations are important, but you need to navigate team and organizational dynamics - often the real barriers to success.

How do you do all of this while staying connected to your values, embracing the journey, and creating a powerful sense of team?

This is the part of the journey that excites us.

My Story

I started my career in hospitals and clinics.  I led rehabilitation programs, working collaboratively with administrators, physicians, nurses and front line staff.

I then spent a few years teaching a graduate-level course on the U.S. Healthcare System.  I gained experience with curriculum design, including work with the faculty who created the innovative "problem-based" teaching model at the McMaster Medical School in Canada.

As an attorney, I represented physicians in their relationships with hospitals at a time when the foundation of this relationship was changing.  I worked with state medical societies to successfully advocate for reform of West Virginia's medical malpractice laws. I assisted financial institutions, public entities, and religious organizations with mergers and acquisitions, litigation, and various regulatory, technology/internet, and employment law matters. In addition to invaluable business experiences, I learned that I enjoy working closely with clients to solve complex strategic problems.

I then joined a dynamic, orthoapedic consulting firm, that would eventually become part of Zimmer-Biomet.  I led a team that designed and deployed comprehensive service line strategic plans for over 100 U.S., and international, health systems.  My area of focus was finding alignment between hospitals and physicians.  I enjoyed providing guidance on the complex market, operational and financial data, but where  I thrived was finding paths to partnership - even when the relationship had been historically contentious.  I became a student of the organizational and leadership dynamics that are the real barrier to success, and developed deliberate methods to improve them.

It became apparent to me that healthcare had neglected the concepts of leadership, team, culture, and talent .  So - I joined a leading human capital management firm, and helped to bring innovative talent strategies, tools and technologies to healthcare.  We quickly developed a market leadership position.

After assisting with the sale of Select International to PSI (now Talogy), the world's largest testing and assessment company, I've dedicated the past few years to creating innovative approaches to linking strategy and operations, to leadership, culture, and team.
